Staycation

Welcome to my Vacation Home
2020 is a year we wont likely forget though I know we all would like to try. Working in Education through the three months of Shelter in Place has been very strange. Pier One Imports closed it's doors for three months and when we reopened we had a big banner that says, "Going Out of Business" across the front of our store. We will have our jobs through the summer and maybe into a bit of fall.
I can't imagine what school will look like and really don't want to at this point. When I return to work in August I will take it one day at a time. For now I am on a Staycation in Redding, CA.

Touring Redding

Since I am staying in Redding most of the summer, I thought I would see some of the sights that are not on my usual adventures. The first stop I made was to R & R Meats. I had not visited them in over 20 years.

This is the largest meat market in the area. They had at least 7 of these piggies that are sausage shaped as piggies. Along with beef, lamb, chicken, pork and all kinds of seafood, they have fresh bread and all the fixing for your meat. I bought local honey for my Dad that was from Red Bluff.
Another of my new favorites is this pizza from Raley's. I added mushrooms and a little extra cheese. The crust is non grain and is as fluff as a croissant. I don't shop at Raley's often, but it is a monthly not guilty pleasure now.

The new look
Living with a beast has been an adventure. She is a tiny little beast and she has been training me to her needs. She likes to sleep in the basket of blankets and she likes to look outside in all weather. The curtain was in her way and one day it just came down on her. I put it back up and tried for a couple of days to spray her with water when she touched it, but again it fell down. I realized the curtain was in her way to see out. Also she would see the shadow of the wind chimes, a bird or my solar lights at night. Just as a cat will follow a pointer light, she is attracted to whatever is on the curtain. We will see if this set up works.

Grand-baby Update

Ellie is the best eater

Em is learning the piano

Judah is standing and at 10 months about to take off running
I got a big surprise on Sunday afternoon. Abbie and family came to see me in the afternoon. They had gone to church locally in the morning, had lunch with friends and spend a few hours at Grammie's house. It was so fun watching Em interact with Molly. Ellie spilled her Cheerios and Fishy crackers on my floor. The girls helped pick them up and put them in a little bowl for Molly. Just now I noticed that Molly was over at the dish eating a few. A backup plan to the usual no grain kibble.

Odds and Ends

I painted this for a friend who had a virtual baby shower a week ago

The lilies around the apartment are still blooming

This is the longest I have been able to have an Herb garden
It is the middle of June. School has been out a week and the weather has been mostly pleasant. We had the most spectacular sunset tonight. My Dad called me to see if I had noticed. Despite them building condos across the street I was able to see the beautiful sky from my terrace.

The world is crazy. We live one day at a time. God is on the throne and HE is in control. This time of year I tell people I live upstairs behind the blooming Freeway Bush tree. It is beautiful and I am glad my Dad called me, so that I stopped watching from my easy chair and took in the panorama outside.
Love from Me and Molly
